Throughout the Winter and into Spring I have been making an audacious move to start the next (and probable last) phase of my life on earth. We are in the process of finding a new home. During this search, while living in rental properties, I have felt taken by a fresh perspective and invigorating sense of the direction I’m heading with my work.
I believe we all must do a Great Re-Examination of who we are, where we are going, and how we are going to get there. We have now passed the two-year mark of the initial shutdown due to Covid-19. Think of how much we have changed since then. I know I see a great shift and what is emerging is beautiful.
We have gone through a metamorphosis and come out with an appreciation for our own value and time: regeneration and rebirth. Now we must do a deeper dive into inner Soul work, in order to thrive in a world gone mad! This is what I call Radical ReinventionSM!
We truly are in the 11th hour. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s most recent findings state that we are going to surpass double the limit of global warming that was agreed on in The Paris Agreement of 2015 (1.5-degree Celsius, or 2.7-degrees Fahrenheit). The UN Secretary-General “insisted that unless governments everywhere reassess their energy policies, the world will be uninhabitable.” Despite the urgency felt by other countries, here in the U.S. the GOP still refuses to acknowledge that Climate Change should be at the forefront of our policy making.
But with everything seemingly spiraling out of control in the world around us, we can still turn inward to strengthen our resolve.
Radical Reinvention requires that you tear through any preconceived notion of who you are – and how you view your place (or places) in the world. You need to truly embrace your deepest passions, values, and inner knowledge in order to be the force you want to see in our new world.
Think of the sacrifices of the ancient storytelling of Moses, leading his people out of enslavement by the parting of waters. And the life, trials, and rebirth of Christ that are focused on every Easter. We can create a new rebirth story for us all, across all religions; we can create a new world of our making.
We may often feel trapped by uncertainty, yet like flowers, we too can push through the heaviness of the dark earth above us and into sunlight that we couldn’t see, yet still sensed that it was there all along.
Reflect: What would you need this spring to undergo a Radical Reinvention?
