I’m trying to plan for my future, but everything seems so uncertain. Even though many of my friends seem content to age in place, I’m worried I’m overlooking important needs in my life by simply committing to stay where I am. How should I begin to go about assessing this?

We want to consider all the adaptations we will need to make as we grow older. For example, we may want to find a house that has no stairs, or re-design our shower so there is less chance of tripping over it. Do you live nearby family now, or would you want to be closer and more easily in reach? Each stage and phase offers different adjustments and opportunities for aging gracefully and comfortably. Planning for our future as we age allows us to prepare most effectively for the changes when they come. And, of course, planning financially and medically for a long life will bring you and those you love peace and ease of mind.
