What advice would you give to people as we adjust to and seek new ways to navigate beyond the “new normal” and how to prepare for what is to come?
– Sonya P.
I call this time the “Age of Greatness” when each of us is called to step forward to own or regain our professional and personal agency and authority as we navigate “the new abnormal.” Doing so will open up new vistas perhaps never encountered previously. With focused attention on your truest desires and visions for y(our) future, you will create a Future by Design™ by blazing new trails.
Emerging trends, like massive resignations and the piling up of unfilled positions are signals that we are evolving to a new way of being and working. The normal that was will never be again. Covid, climate change and politicized “othering” has shifted everything, and life now looks very different. We are still changing and adapting moment by moment, day by day. Do not lose faith. Something we are only beginning to envision will emerge in its place.
This period of time is giving all of us an opportunity, even if uninvited, to pause and reflect upon our lives—that is, where we are, how we got here, and what is next. Do you need to reinvent in response to the new abnormal and what the future appears to be bringing you?
If so, trust the process and respond-don’t react.
Many people react like goldfish, and as the waters heat up, want to get out, and will jump out to any shiny bowl. Take time, pause, review on every level. Don’t jump.
Recall other times of instability in your life and you may see that very often those times marked new beginnings or innovations for you and those you served. So, it is critical to trust the process and take the first steps in faith. You do not need to take the whole staircase at once. New possibilities are ready to emerge for each of us as individuals and collectively, and we can co-create together. However, our next steps should not be taken out of fear but through a deep and reflective pause as we look ahead to creating our new world.
