I’ve started to hear people talk about “conscious aging” recently, but what does that really mean? I’m certainly conscious of my age every day!
– Harriet D.
Conscious Aging is one of two important things to consider as you get older:
Conscious Aging is growing old with awareness as you age, not simply being aware of your advancing years. This requires being introspective and engaging in serving others in ways that are often a result of knowing ourselves. Conscious aging is not easy but offers us a chance to live more fully realized lives as spiritual, emotional and physical beings.
Aging Consciously is also referred to as Successful Aging, which is “our ability to maintain optimal well-being in the face of age-associated losses.” (See the book Successful Aging by Rowe and Kahn)
We need a balance of both these awarenesses to keep up our mental, emotional, and bodily health — so we can Rock Our AGE at any age!
