I sometimes feel like I’m being called to finally start my dream of working for myself, but I overwhelmingly feel that it’s just too late for me. Is there an age cap for entrepreneurship?
— Walter V.
It’s never too late! Older entrepreneurs tend to be more successful than their younger counterparts. One study found that the average age for the most successful entrepreneurs was 45 years old and concluded that “the highest success rates in entrepreneurship come from founders in middle age and beyond.”
Other studies have consistently shown that the most successful entrepreneurs, long term, are between ages 55 and 64. This is likely due to stronger connections, experience, and wisdom, not to mention a stronger financial base for starting a business compared with younger people, today especially.
Your age is one of your greatest assets now. Harness your experience and become the entrepreneur you’ve always dreamed. You’re being called to this path for a reason!
