Why can’t I maintain my direction? Since the pandemic began, I feel inspired and focused on Monday, and then come Tuesday I have lost my way. How do I “show up every day?”
– Cherie S.
The first thing I would ask is what is happening on Monday that is not happening Tuesday? What is different on Tuesday?
If there is a difference, then what do you need to replicate on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
I recall from one of our conversations that you have lost passion for your current position, and while you do not really know why yet, you were considering looking for another job. And yet intellectually, left-brain driven, you decided that it made more sense in terms of retirement to stick it out. So here you are a prisoner of the golden handcuffs that your husband and you have locked onto your own wrist. How happy can any of us be when we make our decisions for these reasons?
On the other side, you have made a sound retirement decision. Now, unfortunately, it is much harder to find a new job during the pandemic, so you will just have to hold on a little longer.
For the future, remember than when we make those left-brain decisions, we have to be sure that it is a whole person decision. Your focus now: How do you make where you are now nourishing and nurturing?
