I enjoy celebrating with family and friends during Passover (and Easter) and I’d like to better understand any greater significance of these holidays. Sometimes I feel as though these celebrations are irrelevant with all that’s going wrong in the world. What are your thoughts on these traditions?

I recently shared the story of the goddess Ēostre, who was known as the “goddess of dawn and light.” She exemplifies Divine Feminine qualities and is where Easter gets its name!
Other themes of Easter are more widely known today, with the despair and loss felt over the death of Jesus, paired with immense hope upon his resurrection. We also have the Passover story of Moses, which symbolizes exile to redemption; and the parting of the Red Sea, leading to salvation. All stories of despair that ultimately lead to redemption.
These holidays and traditions are here to remind us that even in the darkest of times there’s always hope and a chance of redemption. Gathering and celebrations are essential to our humanity, as they build community and give us the opportunity to experience rituals.
May these celebrations be redeeming during these VUCA times!
