The term “ageless” comes up a lot in your work and one of your books is entitled The Ageless Way. What exactly do you mean by “ageless”?
– Darlene M.
I’m glad I’m the age I am now, but it doesn’t define me. It doesn’t define you. We are ageless because aging is a lifelong process… we’re aging from the moment we land on the planet, so we need to take away all the negative charge on what it means to grow older.
As women we were either supposed to be witches or spinsters as old age hit—you know, wicked witches to be watched out for or we were invisible and irrelevant. Well, either representation, obviously, is not true. It’s more about how we use this time in our lives. Now that we are adding 30 years onto our longevity from the past shorter life spans, you’ve got to keep going.
What are you going to do and become during these precious extra years? You’re not going to be sitting and playing golf and drinking Martinis for the next 40 years. I am very excited about the innovative possibilities for young people, and Baby Boomers, entering into this new mindset where we are ageless as there are so many ways for each of us to express and expand who we are—and to bring our gifts at any age to the collective.
